There are few things as cool as seeing the strength and dedication of a 19 year old boy preparing to go on a mission. I can't imagine the commitment it takes to put your life on hold for 2 years, go to a foreign country, learn a new language, and teach a message of charity, hope, and faith. These boys are truly an inspiration, and you can see that spirit burning in Kimball, even through these photos.

How would it feel to be the only girl in a family with 4 boys... I wouldn't know. I grew up with all sisters. But I'm pretty sure this little girl will be spoiled to death. Although, I do feel bad for any future boyfriends she will have. Anyways, here's the Jacob's family. Do you ever feel like some people just have all the luck? These are the lucky winners of the contest I held with Harbertson Design . (Check out the amazing things they do!) And not only were the stars shining down on them for the contest, but they must have been burning like a supernova the day their little one was born. I mean seriously, good looks, sweet personality, and I'm just going to assume he's gonna grow up to be a genius. You know I love America. Best country in the world. But sometimes I think we dropped the ball (no pun intended) in certain things. Like when we changed the name of "futbol" to Soccer. And then created an entirely different game that we call football. Why not stick with football, and create a new game that we call soccer?
And don't get me started on how much easier the metric system is.

So, when Kate and William got married, I fantasized just a little bit about wearing fancy hats. I think most women did. So I'm not ashamed. I just wished we still lived in a time where wearing fancy hats was the norm, because then I could totally sport a hat like this one without having a special occasion like the royal wedding. That being said Aly definitely pulls it off for an every day look. So I may be breaking the 10th commandment, and coveting this hat. I'm sure you will too. Take a look and see for yourself!

There's probably nothing better than finding out you are having a girl, and then seeing her come out with a full head of dark hair!! Seeing little "S" may or may not have made me squeal like the little girls in "Tangled" when they first see Rapunzel. Such a cute little family! Nicole called me at 3 and we were shooting by 730. I was asking a few general questions about baby's age etc. Finding out he was 6 days old already and I had no other time in the next week to schedule a session, we decided to do it that night! The place we picked was pretty packed with people waiting for what turned out to be a firework show. I guess if I read my city newsletters I would have known about this! Ha ha. Oh well, we had plenty of gorgeous light and space to do the shoot. I had a great time guys, enjoy! I couldn't decided which ones to post and some I just couldn't not show, so there are quite a few...CHEESE! ha ha.

4 pounds of goodness

This sweet little thing is such a little fighter. She was born 5 weeks early, and weighed somewhere in the 4 lbs range. She only spent 4 days in the NICU, which was way less than expected. I soon found out as to why...She is one stubborn little girl!
She did not want to lay on her stomach...at all! It took grandma and I working together to finally get a few with her on her tummy. I've never had a newbie fight me so much! Now on to what you came to see...oh, and check out those eyelashes!

After a long (12hr) drive, stuck between a 7 year old and a 4 year old and with little leg room, we finally made it to Canada! We came up here to see my newest little nephew Colt. And of course my sister and the rest of the family. I was not feeling well on Monday, my back hurt and it felt like I was prego with my son again. I called my sister (my twin sister) and asked her how she was feeling, she said she was having some pretty good contractions. I told her I know I can feel it! Gotta love the strange things we twins experience. So we have been having a nice relaxing time playing with my nieces and baby nephew. Sad to leave, but I miss my bed so much!

Well I remember this little one's newborn session quite well. It was only a few weeks or so before that I broke my foot...Doing a newborn session with a broken foot is not easy! This time however I thought I was in the clear, but a few days before I broke my toe dancing. I'm seriously thinking this family is linked somehow to me braking bones! So I've been thinking about a photo shoot like this for quite awhile. I was actually waiting for some good weather, but the opportunity presented itself early, so I went for it! I'm so glad I did! I've been feeling like something was missing in my photography, but I couldn't quite pin it down. I would go back and look at some older photos, and I was not happy with them. I was not happy doing what I love, and that was a problem!

{INTERVENTION}

I have almost gone totally away from using actions...At first they were fine, and I think they have actually helped me learn a lot about processing. On the other hand, they were limiting my creativity, I'd push a button, and get the same look in every photo...Boring! I've been spending a lot of time working on my own work flow, and finding my own photoshop techniques that I was happy with. I've finally found that I need to create a photo that I love, and not what I think someone else will love. If someone doesn't like it, that's ok with me, there are plenty of other photographers out there to choose from. I love where life is taking me right now and I couldn't be happier with my choice to move on to bigger and better {looking} things!

A Part 2 to come at a later time, otherwise you'd be reading for hours! ha ha. With out further ado... some pics...

When we were deciding on places to go for this shoot, Austin was up hunting in Morgan and mentioned this place that had some beautiful fall foliage.... That was about a week or so earlier. We headed up and I was thinking "everything here is dead!" I kept looking for something that would work for some great family photos. So I decided on the hay field over the dead trees that were in the other direction. I guess that's what we get when we leave it up to a guy to choose the location! :) It was a great time. Janet's parents came a long to help, so I took some photos of them as well. Enjoy!

I love senior sessions! They are always a blast since most of the time they like having their pictures taken. This is Aly, my beautiful little cousin. I can't believe how grown up she is. She was one of my little flower girls 8 years ago and now she's graduating high school! Crazy!!! I had a killer headache during this session and by the end I was ready to die! This kid is a great piano player. For his birthday his parents set up a private concert with John Schmidt, a famous LDS pianist. Kimball loves his music and was able to play one with John during the performance. I was able to attend since they needed some pics with the piano for some of Kimball's Senior pics. Is the song this beautiful Bride danced down the isle with her daughter. I told you it was unlike any other wedding! The Groom with his son, and a friend (which I like to call the pastor, which he is far from being, though he did get "official" just in time to marry them) also danced down the isle to the Austin Powers theme song. Hilarious! The rest of the boys came out just before the Bride to the theme song for Mission Impossible...They had sun glasses and all checkin out the place making sure it was safe for their mom. I have known the Groom and the "Pastor" for years, so this type of wedding was in no way a surprise! (it's a good thing the Bride fits in nicely with this group!) I'm so happy for them both and am so glad they found each other! Congrats you guys!

I recently had the opportunity to photograph a group of young ladies. My sis in law did this for a young womens activity and asked me come a long and help take some photos and teach them a bit about photography. These girls were so fun and helpful, helping with my reflector and learning how to see the light reflect on each others faces. Although their favorite part was of course being little models, and for good reason! They are ALL gorgeous!

She really is a beauty! It helps when mom is so gorgeous! B was a bit older than I usually like but none the less we got some great shots. It only took 2 sessions to finally get her to actually sleep a bit! The first try she was not wanting to sleep. We spent quite a while trying to get her to sleep, with no luck. She came back a few days later to try again. This time was a success! I've never seen a baby so awake for so long! Here you go guys, hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

I love going to Temple Square!! It's always so beautiful! I've never taken photos down there in a wedding atmosphere, so needless to say I was a bit nervous when Stephanie called me to take some photos after their sealing. I decided to drag my sister with me to help keep me company and together we got some great shots! They really made my job easy!! Thanks guys for letting me be part of your day!

Yeah so, one thing I did not know is that we could only photograph on the east side of the temple. Oh well now I know!!

What a great time we had with this shoot! My models were so fun! Besides from being an hour behind schedule and making a stop at noodles and co. (The looks they got were priceless! I am looking for about 5-6 "brides" for a mock bridal shoot I'm going to be doing. I want to plan for around the last week in July or 1st of august some time. Let me know if any of you are interested. If any of you have a man that has a great looking suit or tux that would be willing to come we could get a few groomals in too! The location will be announced when I know who I'm working with. I want several locations so it will be a limited time frame. You must have a dress or able to borrow someones. I had the pleasure to take some photos for my friend Anita and her extended families. It was craziness! I had a lot of shade, which probably was an issue, and my camera decided to have a mind of it's own and not do what I needed, so all in all a very stressful photo shoot! So my little girl asked me if I would take some photos of her. So down to the studio we went because it was yet again raining! What a beautiful girl. She was so fun to work with. We went out Saturday, and at first she really didn't want to be there, but she soon warmed up to the camera and we got some great shots. I always have a problem narrowing down my favs, but here goes....

Hollie is my Sister in Law, and she is so beautiful. I'm glad I was able to get some photos of her. It was a good thing she only wanted studio photos, since it was pretty much snowing all day. I was a little bummed because I love ones outside in nature. They just add to the beauty of creation. Here's a few of my favorites. Doesn't she look fantastic!

Well, I've decided to finally start a Photography blog. So here it is.

Casey is about ready to have her little boy. She is so cute pregnant. If only I could look that good while pregnant. We had a great time out in the cold taking photos. Here's a few from the session, ok so it might not be a few, but I have so many favorites.
